Amazon is offering a significant deal on the high-end Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5. The 1TB storage variant is currently discounted by £300, bringing its price down to the same level as the 256GB model. Additionally, a £300 voucher is included, resulting in a total discount of £600.
While the Z Fold5 used to be the exclusive horizontal foldable option, competitors like the Google Pixel Fold and OnePlus Open have entered the market. However, these alternatives are priced higher than the Samsung foldable, even for models with lower storage configurations.
The Xiaomi 13T Pro, positioned just below flagship status, boasts a rapid Dimensity 9200+ chipset, a quality 6.67” 144Hz display with 12-bit colors and 1,220 x 2,712px resolution, and a 50MP main camera with a large sensor (1/1.28”), along with a 50MP 2x zoom camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. With a 5,000mAh battery and super-fast 120W charging, it’s a compelling option, especially considering the unavailability of the Xiaomi 14 in the UK.
The Motorola Edge 40, priced at £300, remains a solid mid-range choice. Alternatively, the Edge 40 Neo is available at £250, featuring a similar 6.55” 144Hz P-OLED display and a 50+13MP camera. However, it has a less powerful chipset (Dimensity 7030 vs. Dimensity 8020) and lacks wireless charging, despite having a larger battery (5,000mAh vs. 4,400mAh).
While the Edge 40 is recommended over the Neo, budget-conscious consumers may consider the Moto G84. With a 120Hz 6.5” P-OLED display, a comparable camera setup (50+8MP), and a more affordable price point, it uses a slightly slower Snapdragon 695 chipset, and the 5,000mAh battery supports only 30W charging, but offers better battery life.
In terms of wearables, the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic are still top choices until the second half of the year. These watches offer ECG and blood pressure monitoring, among other health tracking features, with the Classic model featuring the distinctive rotating bezel.
Additionally, Samsung’s Galaxy Buds2 Pro, currently the brand’s premier TWS buds, are praised for comfort, long battery life, and effective ANC with Voice Detect, automatically turning off ANC when you start speaking. The redesigned Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2, equipped with Bluetooth and UWB, also includes an NFC tag for storing contact information in case of loss, requiring a compatible phone like the Z Fold5 or S23+/S23 Ultra.
