Chrome’s New ‘Help me Write’ Feature: A Game-Changer for Writers?

Google has recently announced the launch of a new feature called “Help me Write” for the Chrome browser on both Macs and Windows PCs. This tool is designed to assist users in starting or refining written content, and it utilizes the advanced Gemini model that Google unveiled in December.

The Gemini model is considered to be Google’s most capable and general AI model to date, developed through large-scale collaborative efforts by teams across Google. With the Help me Write feature, users can expect to receive suggestions for relevant content based on the context of the webpage they are on.

For instance, when writing a review for a pair of shoes, the AI model can suggest key features from the product page that support the user’s opinion, making the review more informative and helpful. Similarly, when creating an online listing for an item on eBay or another site, users can quickly outline their description and let the Help me Write feature generate a more polished summary.

The Help me Write feature is available in Chrome M122 and can be accessed in the United States in English. To enable this feature, users simply need to sign into Chrome, navigate to the Settings option from the three-dot menu, and select the Experimental AI page. Once enabled, users can right-click on any open text field in Chrome and choose the Help me Write option to get started.

Overall, the introduction of the Help me Write feature represents a significant step forward in the development of AI-powered writing tools. With its ability to understand context and provide relevant suggestions, this feature has the potential to greatly enhance the writing experience for users across a wide range of applications.
