Cheyenne Parker-Tyus has signed a one-year, unguaranteed, veteran minimum contract with the Las Vegas Aces, first reported by Callie Fin of the Las Vegas Review Journal..
Parker-Tyus has been a consistent big in the WNBA since being drafted by the Chicago Sky in 2015. Parker-Tyus spent her first six seasons with the Sky before signing with the Atlanta Dream in 2021, where she spent her last four seasons – including an All-Star appearance in 2023.
With the Dream, Parker-Tyus averaged 12.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1 block per game, while shooting 48 percent from the field. In 2024, Parker-Tyus missed 15 games – primarily due to an ankle injury that cost her the better part of the second-half of the season. Prior to the injury, Parker-Tyus was moved to the second unit in Atlanta, as the Dream opted for more spacing with Nia Coffey and Naz Hillmon in the starting lineup.
At 32, Parker-Tyus has shown that she has plenty left in the tank, even if it’s as a rotational big with the second unit. She’s just one year removed from an All-Star appearance, so there’s hope for a bounceback season from the veteran.
The Aces hope Parker-Tyus can fill a major need for their squad, as the team struggled with a lack of depth in its frontcourt in 2024.
