The Phoenix Mercury have acquired Alyssa Thomas through a trade with the Connecticut Sun on a guaranteed one-year supermax contract. Thomas is guaranteed $249,244 for the next year under the core designation made by the Sun, and she’ll reside in The Grand Canyon State.
The trade is Thomas and Tyasha Harris for Natasha Cloud, Rebecca Allen and the 12th overall selection in the 2025 WNBA Draft. The move also combines with the trade that brought Satou Sabally to Phoenix.

Alyssa Thomas. In Phoenix. Let that sink in. pic.twitter.com/QoPuAdNqEa— Phoenix Mercury (@PhoenixMercury) February 2, 2025
Thomas, 32, had spent her entire 11-season career playing for the Connecticut Sun. The University of Maryland product has averaged 12.2 PPG, 4.6 APG, 7.5 RPG, and 1.5 SPG on 48.3 percent from the field.
Thomas is a punishing offensive player and a walking triple-double threat. Her motor and downhill quickness make her an exceptional at-the-rim finisher, and her defensive tenacity makes her an impossible player to play against. She will become the new defensive anchor for the Mercury for the 2025 season.
