“These are vet players that have somehow gotten this resurgence and are able to be the best players [not only] on their team, but the best in their conference for the week, and that has been my favorite thing,” Robinson said. “I feel like these past couple years, we’re only talking about the new players or the rookies that are coming in, but there are veteran players being like, ‘No, we’re here. We’ve been putting in work this whole time, and now I’m able to kind of bust out and shine a little bit.’”
They continue by analyzing the Dream’s 5-2 start to the season with Gray and Rhyne Howard continuing to play at an elite level and Brittney Griner and Te-Hina Paopao joining the squad. They note that the Dream haven’t even reached their full potential due to Jordin Canada missing the start of the season with a right knee injury.
“I think very clearly the Liberty and Lynx are in that top tier, but being in the top four is going to really matter, especially for purposes of the WNBA playoffs and who you are playing,” Megdal said. “I don’t know that there’s a team that’s made a better case early on than the Atlanta Dream for one of those slots.”
